PepsiCo is near a deal to acquire the startup beverage brand Poppi, Bloomberg reported, with the companies discussing a purchase price of more than $1.5 billion.
Big food and beverage companies have continued to acquire younger, fast-growing brands, a bright spot among a broadly sluggish dealmaking market, as they look to revive sales growth. Last month, energy drink maker Celsius said it would pay $1.8 billion for competing brand Alani Nu, and late last year, Pepsi said it would pay $1.2 billion for Siete, a brand of grain-free tortillas and chips.
Poppi surpassed $500 million in sales in 2024, The Information previously reported, and the company is profitable. A deal could be announced as soon as next week, the report said, but the talks could change or be delayed. A Poppi spokesperson declined to comment.
