Amazon Prime Video has licensed the streaming rights for the first seven seasons of "The Apprentice," a reality-TV competition show that was hosted by President Donald Trump and originally premiered on NBC in 2004. The deal deepens the relationship between the tech giant and the current president after Amazon reportedly paid $40 million to produce a documentary on First Lady Melania Trump. Amazon founder and executive chair Jeff Bezos has been seeking to forge a friendlier relationship with Trump than the two men had during Trump's first presidency. "The Apprentice" was produced by Trump, veteran TV producer Mark Burnett, and MGM Alternative, a division of the MGM film and TV studio which Amazon acquired in 2022.

Amazon said the first season of "The Apprentice" will air exclusively on Prime Video in the U.S. starting Monday, with later seasons arriving on the video service every Monday through April 27.
